Photography has always been linked to the memories of our life. Whether a vacation, or event is classic to see people taking pictures.
Also sometimes we associate certain objects to memories.
In this photo I wanted to show this two things.
I like the idea that photography it’s a tool to capture something that it’s possible that never happen again.
For this still life, I used an old camera and old family photographs.
I started selecting the photographs, trying to be the oldest possible and then places them above the desk. Then I placed the camera.
The point was not to show all the camera, but the concept is why I decided to give more space to the pictures. Using an inclined angle I think brings a different aspect to the still life.
The EXIF parameters were as follows:
Focal length: 35mm
Exposure time: 1/180 s
Aperture: f / 11
ISO / Film: 100
The lighting was generated with one flash, but did not enlighten the set directly but by bouncing light onto a white surface, just above the still life, still life and involving also other white surfaces. The idea was to create a uniform illumination. The flash is located on the left side out of the composition.
After took several pictures, chose one.
The idea was to convey the picture is very old, so the natural choice is the black and white. I became black and white, adjust the levels and then gave a small brown hue, sepia but very soft.
Finally, I then merged another picture to give greater texture and aged appearance. The other image was a photograph of a wall with multiple textures. The same has been mentioned in this blog.
