This photograph shows the Pont del Petroli in Badalona – Barcelona. This bridge is a classic in this coastal city, and a place visited by lovers of photography.
I like the idea of photographing structures, since they can benefit substantially , especially if you are on the beach .
That day an October afternoon storm threatening , I decided to take the camera and look to photograph this famous bridge.
After photographing the bridge from below, tried a composition showing, water , sand , etc. . , I thought about looking for something different. Always keep your eyes wide open and looking for new ideas.
I got on the bridge. It was empty, and appreciated in the wind and the temperature would be a storm. The bridge is quite long, and I wanted to convey the feeling that if you cross it, you reach a point far away, beyond the reach of sight.
The photo is made using a wide angle, forcing the rails lines were at the center of the image, to guide the eye to the bottom. Also, I did not use the two-thirds rule for the same reason.
The camera I used is the Olympus E – 510 with 14-42mm lens. The data camera settings were:
• Focal length: 27mm
• Aperture: F7.1
• Exposure time: 1/80seg
• ISO: 400
Once the photo already on your computer, that the defendant wanted to intensify the feeling of great space, and also the cold feeling he had that afternoon .
I chose to remove the color, as it does not add anything . But black and white picture did not quite convey that atmosphere, something we talked about in the previous post . The solution was to give a bit of a bluish tint. After a bit of focus and vignetting to finish helping the eye to go to the center of the image.
